With 70% of its population below 35 years, India today stands among the nations with the largest population of young. According to the 2011 census the Youth population of India including adolescents is a whopping 550 million. However, this need not necessarily signify a promising future for the country which is battling with several social and economic challenges and it remains to be seen how well the nation is able to harness this immense demographic potential that it is endowed with. Channeling young energies and removing barriers that hinder the ability of young minds to contribute towards the nation’s prosperity lie at the heart of development issues in India.
