Legislative and Parliamentary Affair Department of Gujarat

The Department has combine functions of Legislation and Parliamentary Affairs. It manages the sessions of Legislative Assembly and prepares program for the session of House of State Legislature. Constitutes and implements Informal Consultative Committees related to different Departments. Co-ordinates legislative and other Government Business in Legislative Assembly. Reviews and follow up implementation of Answers related to Assembly questions‚ petitions‚ call attentions‚ notion‚ and adjournment motions prepared by Departments. The Department provides advice on various matters of the members of Legislatures‚ Parliamentary Procedures and Affairs. It also maintains Liaison between leaders and different parties and maintain liaison with departments for matters related to Legislature. The department works with Function of legal drafting‚ legal scrutiny of the draft proposals and consideration of legislation in the form of Acts and Ordinances; subordinate legislation in the form of statutory rules, orders, regulations and notifications. It is entrusted with the responsibilities of procedures involving introduction‚ passing of Bills till they become Acts of the State Legislature and published in the Official Gazette.
